WOVEN ACROSS MANY INDIAN TEXTILE HUBS
A fabric with a fine, grainy surface texture from high-twist yarn, falling with more structure than chiffon or georgette and resisting wrinkles unusually well.

Crepe yarn is given a very high twist, which creates the fabric's characteristic fine, all-over grain once it relaxes off the loom. It is made in both silk, sometimes called crepe de chine, and synthetic yarn, with the synthetic version dominating everyday retail.
Region: Woven across many Indian textile hubs; not tied to a single GI region
Best season: Suitable across most seasons
Crepe's structure makes it forgiving for draping since the pleats hold their shape without much fuss, a reasonable choice for someone still learning to drape a saree.
